Job Description Summary

Read assigned water meters, perform and complete service orders related to new service turn on requests, service turn off requests, meter leak checks, re-reads and various other tasks. Participate in monthly cut off process.  Perform and complete customer service related tasks and other duties as assigned.

This job is physically demanding.  There is considerable walking as well as  frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and use of arms.  Vision to accurately read meters in all weather and lighting conditions is essential.  Successful Meter Readers complete an average 14,000 steps, or 6 miles a day.

Meter Readers work outside most of the time and are subjected to the elements.

The Meter Readers are part of the Utility Billing team, but work independently during the day.   The successful employee has the ability to organize and develop their personal daily goals to accomplish what is expected.  They are self-motivated, can stay on task and complete assigned duties on time as scheduled.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to walk and be on your feet all day. Bending, stooping, being on your hands and knees very likely.
